Pulsar APX Wax Vaporizer Review

Pulsar's APX Dry Herb Vaporizer was a massive home-run in the world of ultra-compact, affordable vapes. Spinning at lightning speed off of that success, they have added to their repertoire a dedicated wax vaporizer. The Pulsar APX Wax sports a bundle of features in yet another small but powerful and well-delivered package. Just as before, Pulsar offers you a variety of seven beautifully crafted exterior designs for the wax edition: Grey, Blue, Black, Anodized Black, Tie-Die, Wood Grain, and their wildly popular THC Element.

If you thought it wasn't possible to shrink the already miniature 4-inch frame, think again. The APX Wax is only 3.5 inches tall. Half an inch smaller than its predecessor! With no lack in the performance department, this little powerhouse lives up to the well-earned reputation that Pulsar has built. Here is a dive into the details...

  • 1x Quartz Rod Triple Coil Atomizer
  • 1x 1100mAh Lithium-ion Battery
  • 1x Quartz Chamber
  • 1x Dab Tool
  • 1x USB Charger
  • 1x Instruction Manual

Combined with the aesthetics and durability of the original APX, the APX Wax is a revolutionary wax vaporizer that changes the way you enjoy dabs. The three quartz coil atomizer with a resistance of 0.7Ohm provides dense vapor and larger clouds. It also comes equipped with a one-button design, the 5 click method is again used here to start the heat up process. Which, this time around is instant. Just as promised, this can all be done within about 5 seconds! The indicator light on the logo will glow red, then turn green when it is ready for use. Very simple and straight-forward.

The LED lights for battery and temperature indication allow you to easily monitor both at a simple glance. Loading the quartz lined chamber is as simple as popping the glass or steel mouthpiece off. This also features an automatic shut-off that engages after 5 minutes, so as to ensure yourself and your surroundings remain accident-free. Keeping the portable vaporizer clean is essential to this as well, and goes hand in hand with maintenance and longevity of the device. If you are unsure of how anything works, it also comes packaged with Pulsar's always handy and easy to follow instruction manual. Another great accessory generously added is a small silicone jar for storing your concentrates.

Temperature

Unlike the dry herb unit Pulsar makes, this one has a fixed temperature rate for heating the concentrates, simply because multiple temperatures are not needed. Hold the single button to engage the heating element and release it when you are satisfied with your draw. The 3 quartz coils featured on it give it a little more power compared to most other single or dual coil units. The advantage of this is a more powerful hit providing much denser vapor and larger clouds. Quartz coils also help with preserving a large majority of the concentrates flavor. The use of quartz (as opposed to the old-school cotton wicks) is wonderful for ensuring that all of your wax actually gets vaporized with little to none of it getting stuck to the inside of the atomizer.

Battery Life

When it comes to battery life, the APX Wax makes zero sacrifices in the power department given the size of the overall structure. Outlasting most of the underwhelming wax pens on the market, the 1100 mAh lithium ion battery can sustain a vaping session of just over 1.5 hours. This, too, uses a micro USB charging cable to juice it up with a recommended charge time to match its usage time of 1.5 hours. Coming equipped with the ever helpful LED battery life indicator lights, you can make sure you never run out of power during a session.

Vapor Quality

The vapor quality with the APX Wax remains just as impressive as with the original APX. Allowing for quick and extremely potent hits while still being able to preserve and savor the flavor of the concentrate. As stated, the three quartz rings have a lot to do with this great feature. The APX Wax uses a lightly pressure-fitted O-ring style connection to the borosilicate glass (similar to gorilla glass used on many cell phones) mouthpiece that fits on snugly. This is great for when you are heating up the concentrate and would like to get a slightly more measured draw out of the device, being able to eye exactly how much you'd like to inhale.

With a number of other options available in the price range of wax vaporizers alike, here are some of the pros and the cons to consider:

Pros:

  • Easy to use, extremely discreet
  • Heats up in 5 seconds
  • Borosilicate glass mouthpiece
  • Lasts 1.5-2 hours per charge
  • Charges fully in 1.5 hours
  • Powerful 1100mAh Li-ion Battery
  • Pure Quartz Chamber
  • Triple Coil Quartz Rod Atomizer
  • Compact, Pocket-Sized Design
  • Unbeatable price vs. overall quality

Cons:

  • Can burn material if you are not careful
  • The 1-year guarantee (still shorter than some other wax vaporizers on the market)

Whether you are an enthusiast or a casual vaper, the APX Wax vaporizer is a must in your arsenal for quality concentrate vaping! Like the original dry herb Pulsar APX, this gem is highly affordable and ultra-compact. Featuring a superb build, and of course, the top of the line quality to match, the price point that it is featured at is simply an understatement. Combined with a super-short charging time and long battery life, this is the ultimate vaporizer for dabbing while on the go.
