Design
Smaller and way more durable than the Airvape XS, the XS GO only weighs 2 oz and it's about 4” in length with a nice grip that fits comfortably in one's palm. There is a power button located on the face of the unit and a lighting indicator that lets you know both the heat level and battery life of the unit. The mouthpiece at the top of the unit can be removed to reveal the 100% ceramic oven. Additionally, the Airvape XS GO has a hidden packing tool that pulls out from the bottom of the device; this feature can be very convenient for on the go use when you’re out and about. The oven is an oval shape and the design makes it very easy to clean with a spiral brush. It's recommended that you clean the device in between sessions in order to avoid residue build up. This vape has fewer accessories and features than the XS but like they say sometimes less is more and, in this case, I would have to agree.
Temperature and Heating
Like the Apollo XS before it, the Airvape XS GO features hybrid conduction and convection heating. The ceramic oven heats the dry herb while hot air is simultaneously blowing and this combo action serves to provide an even heat distribution of the dry herb in every session. The Airvape XS GO doesn’t have precision temperature control like its big brother the Airvape XS, but instead is equipped with 5 temperature settings (355F, 375F, 390F, 405F, & 420F). To scroll through these settings, simply hold the power button once the device is powered on. The visual lighting display indicates all 5 settings from lowest to highest. Stop at your desired temperature and wait for it to heat up. The Airvape XS GO takes only 20 seconds to heat up to your desired temperature setting.
Ease of Use
The Airvape XS GO is extremely simple to use. You may start by removing the mouthpiece at the top of the device to reveal the ceramic heating oven. Once you have removed the mouthpiece, simply pack 0.3 to 0.4 grams of your desired dry herb and replace the mouthpiece. To power on the device, press the power button on the face of the device rapidly 5 times. Once the device is powered on, hold the power button to scroll though the heating options. Lower heating options are best for flavor and the higher heating options are better for dense clouds. Choose the best heat setting for your session preference and release the button for it to start heating to your desired temperature. The Airvape XS GO then takes a mere 20 seconds to heat up. Once the device is at the desired temperature, just draw from the mouthpiece and enjoy.
Vapor Quality and Performance
Being a cheaper vaporizer, you shouldn’t have high expectations for it compared to other devices. The Airvape XS GO is a more of a “Getter Done” unit. What this means is that the XS GO might not function better than other dry herb vaporizers, but it will get the job done. There are some negatives to the unit, as the mouthpiece can get a little hot in use and the flavor profile isn’t the best when comparing to other units. However, the thing that the Airvape XS GO has going for it is its ability to produce dense clouds of vapor, and rip hard.
Battery
The battery inside the Airvape XS GO is an 800mAh which is 400mAh smaller than the Airvape XS. The battery life on the Airvape XS Go is short compared to other portable dry herb vapes but on a positive note it only takes 45 minutes to charge. Also, as an added bonus, if you just can’t wait the 45 minutes, the XS GO features pass through charging where you can still use the device while plugged into the charger.
Final Thoughts
All in all, I would say that the Airvape XS GO is great vaporizer for users on a budget and it's one of the cheapest hybrid heating units on the market priced under $70. If the bells and whistles are important to you, then maybe this isn’t the ideal vaporizer for you; however, if you want a durable, cut and dry portable vaporizer that performs well at a budget price, heats up fast and is very easy to conceal, then this is one you might want to give a shot.
