Change Your Vaporizer's Coils!

Change Your Vaporizer's Coils!

After using your portable vaporizer or vape pen for a while, you may come to discover that vapor production has slowed, or a burnt taste has begun to appear. This is due to buildup accumulating on the coil in your tank.

A vaporizer works by pushing power through a coil in the base of your tank.chamber, vaporizing your herbs or concentrates. Over time, gunk will build up around your coil, hampering your vaping experience. The easiest solution is to replace your coil, coils are cheap and available in shops and online.

If you need a quick fix, most coils can be given a passable resuscitation with a quick cleaning. To clean your coil, just soak it in boiling water for a few minutes, and allow to dry completely before reattaching. It won't be as good as a new coil, but will last a few days until you can get one.

Another problem you may encounter is gurgling or flooding in your coil (if you're using oils/concentrates). To remedy this without having to replace your coil, simply stand your device up vertically, so the mouthpiece is pointing towards the ceiling, and leave it alone for awhile. Flooding usually occurs when it has been sitting horizontally or upside down, or from vaping too quickly or with too much force.

More advanced herbal vapers tend to use rebuildable coils. Some tanks/chambers you can purchase, usually on the higher end of the price range, are rebuildable. This means you don't need to constantly purchase replacement coils. Using kanthal wire, and cotton for wicking, you can easily make your coils yourself.

The difference between the huge pillow type clouds of vapor from a new coil and the weak acrid clouds from a bad coil are massive, and I recommend changing your coil weekly to biweekly, depending on your consumption level.

Your coil is the most fickle part of your device, and should be treated as such.
